Boys' Soccer ⚽️

The Hawks played Kettle Moraine Lutheran on Saturday, September 7th, and, showing lessons learned from last week, controlled the game’s tempo to come away with a 1-0 win. Playing against the wind in the first half, the boys were able to limit KML’s chances. After making halftime adjustments, they finally broke through with a goal by Gabi Kuvshinikov ’25, assisted by Sonny Wilton ’25 off a corner kick in the 62nd minute. That proved all the Hawks needed to win, as they controlled the game for the remainder of the 2nd half. Coach Joe Manley credited the whole squad with executing changes they worked on since their last game, and he looks forward to the team continuing to raise their level of play.

The Hawks took on Martin Luther in a conference matchup on Wednesday, September 11th, and ended with a 5-0 victory. Now 1-1 in Metro Classic Conference play, the boys struck quickly with a goal by Roy Rivera ’26 in the 5th minute, assisted by Brennen Luchun-Ledvina ’26. Rivera struck again in the 35th minute, assisted by Victor Rossi ’28. Key halftime changes helped the Hawks settle into a second-half rhythm where they possessed the ball with purpose, created chances, and identified the right moments to attack. This led to solid scoring opportunities, including goals by Luchun-Ledvina off a free kick in the 61st minute, Kuvshinikov, assisted by Luchun-Ledvina in the 71st, and  Wilton in the 78th, assisted by Phil Ginestel ’27. Coach Manley credited Jon Orth ’25 with setting the tone defensively and the players coming off the bench for positively impacting the match. The boys look forward to what should be a high-quality matchup at St. Augustine Prep on Friday, September 13th.
