Also securing a spot on the podium was Nathan Breit ’26 who placed 6th in the 100 Backstroke (53.92). The 200 Free Relay team of Borzynski, Nolan Barrett ’27, Nolan Mrotek ’26, and Breit set a new school record and achieved 10th place with a time of 1:31.20.
Great season Hawks!
Boys' Basketball
On Friday, February 21st, the Hawks celebrated their two seniors, Carsen Eeg and Jon Orth against University School of Milwaukee. In front of a great home crowd, the Hawks kept the game close throughout, entering halftime tied 31-31. With no team leading by more than four in the second half, the Hawks missed four consecutive free throws in the closing minutes and couldn’t keep the Wildcats from hitting 3’s on their final two possessions. The boys ultimately fell 57-54. Nolan Greb ’26 led the Hawks with 14 points while Dalton Ahlensdorf ’27 had 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
The following day, the boys hosted St. Mary Catholic in another back and forth affair. Trailing by five early in the second half, the Hawks chipped away and led for the final five minutes of the game, winning 62-56.
Ahlensdorf once again had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds to go along with 4 blocks and 3 steals. Eeg added 13 points while Chandler Perry ’27 and Greb each added 12. “Good bounce back win less than 24 hours after the tough loss on senior night,” said Coach Jason Atanasoff. “St. Mary Catholic is a quality team that plays in a really good league and was the number 1 seed at state just a couple years ago. Happy for the boys that they found a way to get it done.”
The Hawks now prepare for the WIAA Playoffs where they will host #11 seed Milwaukee Lifelong Learning on Tuesday, March 4th at 7PM in the Johnson Athletic Center.
Girls' Basketball
The Hawks finished their regular season at Brookfield Academy on Thursday, February 20th. Holding the Blue Knights to 11 first half points, the team kept control of the game from start to finish with a 67-26 victory. With four girls scoring in double figures, the Hawks looked to tune things up heading into the postseason. Led by Elle Jaramillo ’26 with 15 points and 6 rebounds, the team also saw Meghan Gavigan ’27, Tessa Collum ’28, and Amiyah Galica ’26 finish with 11 points each. As a whole, Prairie recorded an impressive 43 rebounds and 19 steals and shot 7-13 from 3-point range.
The girls finished the regular season with a 22-2 record and the number 1 seed heading into the postseason. They’ll take on Clinton in the WIAA Regional Semifinal on Friday, February 28th at 7PM in the JAC.
