Now that I have gotten the pleasure to coach her, I KNOW she’s a good leader, who has a great personality that helps bring a team together. She is also a hard worker whether that’s in school working towards her big goals for college, or on the court working to bring home a win with her team. She’s pretty impressive.”

What being a Hawk means to Winter:

For Winter, being a Hawk has been a defining part of her identity since she first walked through Prairie’s doors as a Kindergartener. “I started at Prairie in Kindergarten, and the best way I can describe it is that you don’t fit into a mold; you get to create your own. Both academically and athletically, I’ve always felt accepted and valued for what I bring to the classroom and athletic field. Being a Hawk has always felt comfortable while also challenging me.” Throughout her time, Winter has been an undeniable force, not only for her athletic prowess, but for the leadership and positivity she exudes.

As Neal Johnson, her math teacher and track coach, shares, “Winter is a stellar student-athlete who exemplifies leadership both in the classroom and the shotput circle. Her infectious optimism brightens the days of her coaches and teammates alike. Yet, beneath her cheerful exterior lies a fierce competitor with an unwavering drive to succeed. Winter consistently goes the extra mile, dedicating countless hours to honing her skills and reaching new heights. I can’t wait to see what senior year brings.”

What Winter Will Do Next:

Winter plans to major in pre-law or Political Science after graduation and hopes to attend Brown University, Boston College, or UW-Madison.

No matter where she ends up, we are excited to see what the future holds for her!
