There is nothing like being a Prairie Hawk.
The feeling of being known and valued, supported and challenged. The days paddling canoes and climbing rock walls. The opportunities to mentor and lead. The outside-the-box curriculum where students learn to DJ or design clothes or travel to Costa Rica. The glassblowing. Science Olympiad. The Multicultural Festival. Performing on the Jack Mitchell Stage or competing in the JAC as a proud Prairie Hawk.
And of course the brilliant, caring teachers who are so much more than just people talking at the front of the room – Prairie educators are their students’ confidants, their coaches, their advocates, the people committed to going the extra mile and spending the extra hours to ensure their students thrive.
Prairie is more than just a school. It’s a diverse, dynamic, interesting community where students can be themselves as they grow in an environment committed to collaboration and creativity.
And every single day here is an adventure. We invite you to come see for yourself.

The Buddy Program
Numerous times each semester, students across different divisions are intentionally paired together for an opportunity to spend one-on-one time with someone new. The younger students relish the chance to hang out with a “big kid”, and the older students appreciate the chance to teach and mentor.

Grit N' Wit
Each fall, our Middle School students begin the school year with a day of team-building activities designed to bring the class closer together. Working together, they overcome obstacles while learning there is no limit to what they can achieve.

Camp Manito-Wish
As part of our commitment to Outdoor Education, the Upper School begins every school year with a trip to Camp Manito-wish. Yes, it’s a chance to hike and zipline and captain a canoe across Boulder Lake, but more importantly it’s a week-long adventure that promotes friendship, camaraderie, and trust.
