The Hawks placed 6th overall, set three new team records, and earned WIAA State berths in eight events! Leading the way for the swim team was Jack Borzynski ’26, who set a new team record and earned a first place finish with a guaranteed spot at State in the 100 Fly with a time of 51.30. He set a new team record and qualified for State in the 100 Free with a time of 49.75. Boys' Basketball
The Hawks took on Shoreland Lutheran at home on Friday, February 14th, and emerged with a 51-40 victory over the Pacers. In a close game throughout, the boys found themselves in a 35-30 deficit in the second half. They tightened the defensive effort and made enough offensive plays to come out on top. In his first game since December 26th, Chandler Perry ’27 contributed eight points and five rebounds in limited minutes. Dalton Ahlensdorf ’27 led the Hawks with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Coach Jason Atanasoff noted it was a “tough, gritty win. Shoreland is one of the better defensive teams we play, and I thought our boys did a heck of a job on the defensive end tonight in the final 12 minutes of the game. It was great to see Chandler back in action; we certainly missed having him out there.”
Taking on the Salam School Stars on Tuesday, February 18th, the boys took the lead early and didn’t look back, winning 74-45. Perry, still playing limited minutes as he returns to action, had 16 points on a perfect 8-8 shooting night and brought down eight rebounds. Ahlensdorf had a team-high 19 points and nine rebounds, while Carsen Eeg ’25 had 13 points and a team-high nine assists. “A good win tonight and should help with seeding,” said Coach Atanasoff. “Playing in the Metro Classic no doubt prepares us well and tonight was a good example. Emmett Wassil ’28 was simply outstanding on the defensive end. He was challenged to guard their best player, who came in averaging 31 points per game. Emmett held him to 11 points.”
Girls' Basketball
With a 22-2 regular season record, including wins over top ten teams Homestead (Division 1) and Union Grove (Div. 2), the Hawks earned the #1 seed in their Division 4 sectional. With this seeding, the girls have earned home-court advantage in the regional round of the playoffs. Join us in the JAC on Friday, February 28th, at 7PM as they take on the winner of Heritage Christian and Clinton. Should the Hawks win that game, they’ll be back in the JAC on Saturday, March 1st, to play for the regional championship! Click here for the full bracket. Go Hawks!
In a rescheduled game against Wisconsin Lutheran on Monday, the Hawks played through a very physical game and came out on top, 64-55. Meg Decker ’25 scored a season-high 29 points, including 9-11 shooting from the free throw line to lead the Hawks. Fellow senior JJ Barnes added 15 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, while Amiyah Galica ’26 added another 10 points. The Hawks led in the rebound column of the stat sheet 41-24, besting the Vikings 14-6 on the offensive boards.
