Boys' Soccer ⚽️

Traveling to Bettendorf, Iowa, over the weekend, the Hawks took on Quincy Notre Dame and Providence Catholic (IL) in an invitational. In their game against Quincy Notre Dame the Hawks fell 5-2. Brennen Luchun Ledvina ’26 and Roy Rivera ’26 scored the goals for the Hawks. 

In their faceoff against Providence Catholic, the boys won 2-1. Going deep into the bench for their second game in as many days, everyone got some much-deserved minutes. Emmett Wassil ’28 scored the first Hawks goal off his rebounded shot, and Luchun Ledvina added the second goal on a solo run. Coach Joe Manley was proud of the squad for staying consistent in their production on the field as they kept rotating players throughout the match. Overall, it was a great weekend of team building and quality competition to prepare the boys for their final regular season games and the postseason.

Facing Shoreland Lutheran (No. 1 ranked team in WIAA Division 4) on Wednesday, October 2nd, the Hawks fell 3-0. The boys played well early in the game. They were organized and composed in their possession. Shoreland scored late in the first half from a corner and then added two goals in the second, one from a penalty kick. The coaches were proud of the execution the boys showed during the tough match, highlighting the play of Luchun Ledvina in the midfield and Wassil, who made his first varsity start and was a commanding presence in the back.

 

Girls' Tennis 🎾

Playing in the Metro Classic Conference Tournament on Saturday, September 28th, Laini Alexander ’25 brought home a victory in No. 1 Singles despite being seeded third. Evelyn Kane ’25 placed second at No. 2 Doubles. Tevene Vartanian ’25 finished in third at No. 4 Singles. The Hawks came away 4th overall.

The Hawks fell to perennial powerhouse Catholic Memorial 6-1 on Monday, September 30th. Playing at No. 1 Doubles, Kane and Hiba Rahman ’27 picked up the lone win for the Hawks.

In their last regular season match, the Hawks took on St. Joan Antida/Chesterton Academy on Wednesday, October 2nd. With wins at Nos. 3 & 4 Singles and a Doubles sweep, the Hawks finished the regular season on a high note. Cate Vaccaro ’27 (No. 3 Singles) won 6-3, 6-0, and Alyssa Chen ’28 (No. 4 Single) won 6-0, 6-1. Kane and Rahman at No. 1 Doubles and Grace Dixon ’25 and Maeve Harbour ’27 at No. 2 Doubles each won their match 6-1, 6-0. Olivia Tollaksen ’27 and Ella Karegeannes ’26 completed the doubles sweep at No. 3, winning 6-0, 6-3. The Hawks will begin postseason play on Monday, October 7th, with their subsectional at East Troy.

 

Cross Country 👟

Nolan Gasser ’25 ran his fastest time of the season on Saturday, September 28th. Competing at the county invite at Burlington, the senior finished in 19:38. He looks to continue his strong racing on Senior Night on October 3rd at our home cross country meet. Zander Rangel ’28 (21:59) and Cole Johnson ’27 (21:20) also continued their strong seasons in the boys’ race. Erin Gerdes ’26 posted a 36:18, while Sophia Gunia ’28 finished 26:56 for the girls’ race.

The Hawks had a strong showing when they hosted their annual cross-country invite at Johnson Park on Thursday, October 3rd. Also, a day to celebrate the team’s seniors, all three seniors finished in the top 10. Carly Lopez ’25 led the way for the girls, coming in 2nd with a time of 21:22. At the same time, her sister Abby Lopez ’25 finished 4th at 22:37. Gasser led the way for the boys, finishing 7th with a 19:27. Rounding out the times in the girls’ race were Gunia (25:31) and Gerdes (30:43). Johnson (21:09) beat his time from Saturday and Rangel finished strong at 22:17.

 

Girls' Golf ⛳️

At the Hartford Golf Club on September 27th, the Hawks finished 13th of 21 teams. Despite some struggles on the course, the girls learned a lot and beat all other Division 2 teams. Addy Ruetz ’26 finished 10th for the Hawks with an 85. Claire Holle ’26 was close behind her teammate with a 93. Chloe Babu ’27 (109), Alivia Arnone ’27 (121), and Ella Stoner ’27 (120) rounded out the scoring for the Hawks.

The Hawks traveled to Portage for the first round of postseason play on Wednesday, October 2nd. Despite some struggles on the course, the Hawks still had a qualifier for sectionals. Claire Holle ‘26 led the team, shooting a 93. Claire will compete at sectionals on Monday, October 7th, at The Oaks Golf Course. Good luck, Claire!

 

Girls' Volleyball 🏐

Competing in the Lake Country Lutheran Tournament on Saturday, September 28th, the girls went 2-2 with losses against Laconia (12-25, 13-25) and Notre Dame (21-25, 9-25) and wins against Whitewater (25-14, 25-20) and Randolph (25-15, 14-25, 15-13). Coach Mel Mason praised the play of Bella Kekahbah ’26 and Anna Johnson ’25 for providing an overall consistent defensive presence throughout the tournament and the whole team for their aggressive serves, ultimately leading to 24 aces. Addy Zaleski ’27 led the team in kills for the game. 

Facing a formidable conference opponent on Tuesday, October 1st, the Hawks fell in straight sets to St. Thomas More (24-26, 20-25, 22-25). Despite the loss, Coach Mason was proud of the team’s fight in the close match. Kekahbah led the team with seven kills, while Johnson pulled up 30 digs.

Girls’ Volleyball took on Horlick in a cross-town matchup on Thursday, October 3rd, and came away with a quick victory. Anna Johnson tied the school’s all-time dig record and helped the team win 25-8, 25-13, 25-15 over the Rebels. Bridget Cafferty ‘25 jumped off the stat sheet with 17 aces, while Kekahbah added five kills. The Hawks take a long break before their next match against Racine Lutheran on October 15th, when they also celebrate the program’s seniors.
