When asked about his most memorable athletic highlight, Sonny shared, “It was definitely my freshman year, right before our first soccer game. It was my first time in the team room, and I was one of the ‘new guys.’ I felt nervous but also really excited to be part of the team.”
What Being a Hawk Means to Sonny:
“Being a Hawk is all about hard work and proudly representing our school,” Sonny explains. When asked how he embodies the Prairie community, he added, “It’s about competing intensely and showing respect to your opponent.”
Dr. Peter Sattler, Sonny’s advisor, describes him as someone who radiates “quiet camaraderie.” He shared, “Sonny never seeks the spotlight, but he’s always there, supporting his classmates, guiding conversations in a positive direction, and stepping in to help, even when it’s his advisor who needs it. He’s calm and collected, but you can always count on him.”
Coach Joe Manley echoed these sentiments, saying, “This year, Sonny has truly emerged as a leader for our team. He embodies the school’s values and competes with integrity. His dedication, resilience, and hard work are evident in everything he does, and I’m honored to coach him in his senior year.”
After graduation, Sonny plans to pursue a career as a Wildland Firefighter. His legacy at Prairie will continue to inspire long after he steps off the field and into his next adventure.
