TPS Jazz Day is a non-competitive all-day educational music festival for Middle and High School ensembles to celebrate and cultivate their unique musical talents, develop their creativity, and learn more about this truly American art form. The Milwaukee Jazz Institute will be the guest artist for TPS’s 6th annual Jazz Day on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 9 am – 3:30 pm.

• Performances by Middle and High School ensembles adjudicated by the Milwaukee Jazz Institute
• Workshops led by music professionals on topics such as jazz history and improvisation
• A concert featuring the Milwaukee Jazz Institute

Milwaukee’s long and vibrant jazz history is legendary. Tony King, Manty Ellis, Berkeley Fudge, Buddy Montgomery, Gerald Cannon, David Hazeltine, and others have led the way. Now, it’s our turn.

The Milwaukee Jazz Institute was created by dedicated jazz musicians and supporters passionate about preserving this music and passing it on for future generations to develop.

By collaborating with other organizations that share our vision, we believe this music can become an even more significant factor in shaping, revitalizing, and uniting our city. We look forward to being a catalyst for the furthering of jazz in Milwaukee for many generations to come.
