Spanish Class Connects with Kindergarten Students at Fratt Elementary
On April 9, Upper School students in Mrs. Babcock’s Spanish IV class met eager Spanish-language students from Fratt Elementary’s Kindergarten class. Over the past few weeks, Prairie’s Upper School students have taken time to author and illustrate their very own Spanish book. Not only would the book serve as a gift, but students were given the opportunity to read the book in person during a morning meet-and-greet over snack and Spanish conversation. This 2 year tradition is something that students from both schools look forward to each year.
“This project is such a fun opportunity for the students to have a chance to interact with Spanish-speakers. One of the best parts is that they see how much their skills have developed since they started taking Spanish and get to see first hand the usefulness of their abilities. The teachers at Fratt have been so gracious in welcoming us into their classrooms and all the students come away from this experience proud of their contributions,” explained Mrs. Babcock.
The collaboration between both schools has not only created friendships, but it encourages students to extend and reach out to other classrooms, schools, and peers within the community. ¡¡Un trabajo bien hecho!!
