What does it mean to be part of Prairie?

It means learning and thriving at a school that lives without preconceived notions of who you ought to be, but has great expectations of what you can do.

It means allowing students to discover their passions while achieving academic success. It means taking advantage of endless opportunities – exploring art mediums like glass blowing; writing poetry and competing on the national level; participating on a multitude of no-cut athletic teams; and demonstrating leadership through community service, co-curricular club participation, and independent study.

It means being inspired by a faculty that is passionate about a growth mindset, both for themselves and their students. The professional development Prairie educators pursue on a regular basis ensures their classrooms are places where students are continually challenged, engaged, and encouraged.

It means that we are all in this together – students, families, and faculty – to create an incredible environment for each and every child.

We can tell you so much more about what sets Prairie apart, but we invite you to come to campus and experience it all for yourself. It could be the visit that changes your child’s life.

Meet Molly!

What kind of impact have you seen Prairie have on kids?  At Prairie, each student is encouraged to stretch themselves academically every single day.  Whether it’s dissecting sharks in 1st grade, working in small groups in 7th grade to mimic the trail blazed by Lewis and Clark, or jamming in one of the music rooms for AP Music Theory, our students are provided with never-ending opportunities to think critically and creatively.  Watching them embrace their education while taking risks in the classroom and applying what they’ve learned – there’s no greater impact!

Meet Callie!

What is your favorite thing about introducing new families to Prairie? There is usually a moment when a family member sees something that ignites a spark in their spirit – a current student creating a piece of pottery that connects with their creative vision, a robotics demonstration where a mother can envision her daughter building and creating. When I see that light come on, I know Prairie could be the place they call home.
