The “Exploring the Effects of Teenage Drug and Alcohol Use” presentation that took place on Tuesday, May 5, was an event not to be missed. Just under 100 people gathered at The DeKoven Center to not only gain more knowledge about underage drug and alcohol use, but to also show solidarity and commitment to an issue that crosses all school, geographic and class lines.
I want to offer a heartfelt thank you to each and every parent that attended this important collaborative event — the first of it’s kind in Racine. Those in attendance recognized the importance of being proactive and preventing children from going down the dark path of drug and alcohol abuse.
As an integral part of Racine Area School Community Alliance’s (RASCA) planning committee for this event, I was more than pleased to see parents taking advantage of the opportunity to educate and arm themselves with information. Knowledge is power. With that power, we can make a difference in someone’s life.
