Pop POP parents of prairie

POP (Parents of Prairie) is Prairie’s parent organization and it’s purpose is to work with the entire parent community to enhance the overall student experience. This is done by bringing the Prairie parents together to build, enrich, and broaden relationships; facilitating collaboration and dialogue between Prairie faculty and parents; reinforcing the mission of the school; providing useful services to school families; and providing a social connection. Every parent is encouraged to participate in POP activities in order to build a strong, connected Prairie community.

Meet the Leadership Team!

The POP Leadership Team is a group of parents representing all three divisions. The team works alongside the Admission Office to reinforce the mission of the school through community events and activities.
  • Tell us about your kids. Maggie ’16 and Will ’18.
  • What do you appreciate most about your life? Our family. Since Maggie and Will joined us after 18 years of marriage, Tim and I have had the luxury of more life experiences than many parents. We affectionately talk about life BC (Before Children).
During our BC time, we traveled throughout the world, did bicycle tours in the U.S., lived in England, and Tim raced cars at Road America (I was the pit crew chief).
  • What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to work in business.
  • What inspires you to be a POP volunteer? The desire to be involved in our children’s school and the ability to share my talents.
  • Share a fun fact (or two!) about yourself! In 1997, I ran the London Marathon and had a better time than the three men I trained with. This March, I completed my 200-hour Yoga Certification (RYT 200) and am currently teaching yoga.
  • How old were your children when you came to Prairie? Maggie entered Prairie in 8th grade and Will joined in 6th grade.
  • What do you love most about the Prairie community? The people. Everyone is willing to answer any questions and help you in any way possible.
  • Preferred Email Address: [email protected]
  • Tell us about your kids. Nick and Madeline ’22.
  • What do you appreciate most about your life? I appreciate my family and my extended family.
  • What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a veterinarian.
  • What inspires you to be a POP volunteer? I like staying connected with the school and the Prairie community.
  • Share a fun fact (or two!) about yourself! I used to teach science at Prairie.
  • How old were your children when you came to Prairie? Kindergarten
  • What do you love most about the Prairie community? I love how the Prairie community involves the parents. I also appreciate how the teachers are accessible to parents throughout the year.
  • Preferred Email Address: [email protected]
  • Tell us about your kids. Cat ’28, Boo ’28, and Jackson ’23.
  • What do you appreciate most about your life? I love that we can travel. The kids and I love a good road trip or camping trip.
  • What did you want to be when you grew up? Funny, I always thought I would own a restaurant. When I met my husband I had no idea that’s what his family business was.
  • What inspires you to be a POP volunteer? I feel like Prairie gives so much to my kids that it’s only a small way I can help give back to the school. I often hear people complain about this or that, but unless you take an active role you really don’t have a say.
  • Share a fun fact (or two!) about yourself! I have a goal to visit all the national parks! I love the outdoors and am a huge pioneer era history buff.
  • How old were your children when you came to Prairie? All 3 started in Early School.
  • What do you love most about the Prairie community? How the school makes everyone feel welcome from student to siblings to parents to grandparents. And now we welcome the public to some activities. It’s really nice.
  • Preferred Email Address: [email protected]
  • Tell us about your kids. Jack ’26, Joe, and Jordan ’31.
  • What do you appreciate most about your life? I appreciate having the opportunity to stay home with my children. It’s allowed me the time to spend with them as babies, and now the time to volunteer at their school.
  • What did you want to be when you grew up? I always wanted to be a teacher. I received my Masters in Education and taught until choosing to stay home with my boys.
  • What inspires you to be a POP volunteer? I have a deep appreciation for The Prairie School. I have two different perspectives as both an alum and a parent that I feel is valuable to new families. I want new families to have an easy transition and build a similar appreciation for this community.
  • Share a fun fact (or two!) about yourself! I love to travel!
  • How old were your children when you came to Prairie? My children started in Early School as three-year-olds.
  • What do you love most about the Prairie community? I love that the school has three divisions. It’s such an advantage for the students to have multi-age buddies and the opportunity to observe the different events/milestones for each division throughout the year.
