Describe the week up at Manito-wish in one word. Enjoyable

What was your favorite meal? Chicken Dinner. Because I got to eat as much as a can after a long trail.

How do you feel the lack of electronic devices (phones, ipods, tablets) affected your week? It is made me engage with my fellow classmates more, rather than worrying about what emails I got, etc.

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome? How did you achieve success? My biggest challenge was adapting to the weather outside. I achieved my success by layering clothing.

Did you have any previous experience camping? If so, how did Manito-wish compare? If not, how was the overall experience? I have never had previous camp experience, but my overall experience was fantastic!

What are you looking forward to doing next year at Manito-wish? Canoeing.

Describe the week up at Manito-wish in one word. Inspiring

What was your favorite meal? The gyros because they tasted absolutely amazing!

How do you feel the lack of electronic devices (phones, ipods, tablets) affected your week? I felt a lot better but I still wanted to contact my family.

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome? How did you achieve success? Working with people that I don’t usually would work with. We listened to each other to succeed.

Did you have any previous experience camping? If so, how did Manito-wish compare? If not, how was the overall experience? Nope. I have never camped before. I have always wanted to though.

What are you looking forward to doing next year at Manito-wish? Tent camping for the first time!

Describe the week up at Manito-wish in one word. Awesome

What was your favorite meal? Cheesy potatoes. I made it with 90% of the mass being cheese, it was heavenly.

How do you feel the lack of electronic devices (phones, ipods, tablets) affected your week? It helped me focus on the experience of being on trail. I didn’t need to focus on anything else, so my experience was amplified because of it.

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome? How did you achieve success? The biggest challenge I had to overcome was kayaking through the cold rain on the morning we returned to camp. It was difficult because the winds and choppy waters made it difficult to steady the kayak through our 2 hour paddle.

Did you have any previous experience camping? If so, how did Manito-wish compare? If not, how was the overall experience? Yes, I have camped before, but not with the level of self sufficiency I experienced at Manitowish. It was more fulfilling at the end of the day because I was able to accomplish almost everything without technology we usually take for granted.

What are you looking forward to doing next year at Manito-wish? N/A. I’m a senior.

Describe the week up at Manito-wish in one word. Challenging

What was your favorite meal? I think I liked when we had French toast sticks for breakfast. I really like French toast in general and I haven’t had it in awhile.

How do you feel the lack of electronic devices (phones, ipods, tablets) affected your week? I think for everyone, it was difficult to go without electronics. However, I think not having our devices allowed us to look up and see more things rather than see them through a screen.

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome? How did you achieve success? I had to overcome the challenge of meeting new people. It was difficult for me to make new friends, but in the end I had a ton of fun and I’m glad I got to meet them!

Did you have any previous experience camping? If so, how did Manito-wish compare? If not, how was the overall experience? I go camping fairly regularly with my family. We often use our pop-up camper. Manito-wish was fun, but sometimes the bugs can get overwhelming when going camping anywhere.

What are you looking forward to doing next year at Manito-wish? I’m looking forward to meeting more new people and helping out some of the freshman who might be nervous.

Describe the week up at Manito-wish in one word. Fun

What was your favorite meal? Gato Gato, a dinner we had on trail. It was spaghetti with a peanut butter sauce and it was surprisingly delicious and something new to me.

How do you feel the lack of electronic devices (phones, ipods, tablets) affected your week? I don’t think it did. I try not to be reliant on my electronics, so I honestly didn’t even notice the change.

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome? How did you achieve success? Learning to canoe in general was a challenge at first, but it became super fun and easy after the first day!

Did you have any previous experience camping? If so, how did Manito-wish compare? If not, how was the overall experience? Going to Manito-wish is always something I look forward to, and this year did not disappoint! I loved backpacking last year, and canoeing this year was also very enjoyable. It was super fun. I enjoyed how this year I was in a trail group with some people I didn’t know that well and I got the opportunity to make new friends for this school year.

What are you looking forward to doing next year at Manito-wish? I’m looking forward to being back at camp and trying out kayaking!

What was your favorite meal? My favorite meal was the last meal we had at Nash because it was very tasty and I was starving.

How do you feel the lack of electronic devices (phones, ipods, tablets) affected your week? It really didn’t effect me too much.

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome? How did you achieve success? Hiking when my feet felt really bad and I thought of my friends wife was having some medical problems and I thought about them and that’s what got me through it.
