Parent Coffee

Get to Know New Prairie Families Over Coffee!

On Thursday, December 11, Prairie families, especially new-to-Prairie families, are invited to join us for coffee between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. in the Dining Room. This is a great opportunity to connect with veteran families while enjoying a warm cup of coffee. Those who attend the event, organized by our Parent Link group, will enter their name in a drawing to receive a $50 gift card to our new Hawks apparel store

Parent Link: A ‘New-to-Prairie Family’ Resource

Parent Link, a new volunteer initiative developed by Prairie’s P.O.P. Parent Community, is a new initiative that has been developed to welcome new families to Prairie. The group, comprised of Primary, Middle and Upper School families, will serve as a network of parents available to answer questions on almost anything related to Prairie School. They will also assist with the organization of fall and spring welcome gatherings for newly admitted families, gatherings before welcome-back events in August, and occasional informal get-togethers before or after the opening of school.

Admission Director, Molly Lofquist Johnson notes,

“Starting a new school can be a daunting experience for both parents and students. Allowing new parents to have access to a network of families with similar interests or students of the same age will be a wonderful resource for new families. Sometimes the simplest questions such as, ‘Who can I contact regarding the lunch program?’ or ‘What is appropriate dress on casual days?’ can be asked of our parents instead of a school administrator.”

We hope that the launch of this new group will foster relationships and create connections based on the developmental needs and interests of families with children of similar age.
